Together with the University of Copenhagen, Bang & Olufsen Medicom gathered a number of leading experts and stakeholders to discuss patient compliance at Copenhagen Compliance & Concordance Conference (CCCC) on May 30.
The conference was a great success and provided a dedicated forum for discussing the reasons for non-compliance and its implications, as well as how to create better solutions for the future.
“Compliance is a topic with great implications for the national economy and of course – and even more important – for patient safety and quality of life,” stated the Danish Minister of Health and Prevention. He was followed by Brian Haynes, professor at McMaster University in Canada and author of the Cochrane Review on adherence, who continued: “Studies on patient compliance interventions show few positive results in improving adherence and clinical outcome.”
Program
The Cochrane Review on Adherence, Interventions and Results by Brian Haynes, Professor, Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, McMaster University, Canada.
Compliance and Concordance from a Patient Perspective by Jim Kierans, Member, The Danish Diabetes Association.
Understanding Patients’ Perspectives of Medication: Implications for Interventions by Rob Horne, Professor, School of Pharmacy, University of London, United Kingdom.
The Pharmaceutical Industry Perspective by Alejandra Mørk, CEO, Klifo, Denmark.
Improving Adherence with Medication in the Chronically Ill: A Novel Path to Enhance Long Term Successful Outcome by Sabina De Geest, Professor of Nursing, University of Basel, Switzerland.
Concordance – A Concept in Real Life by Hanne Herborg, Director of R&D, Pharmakon, Denmark.

Helping Hand Data Capture at the Red Dot Awards Show |

Helping Hand Data Capture was celebrated on stage at the Essen Aalto Theater in Germany on June 23, 2008. Paul Erik Fabricius, Senior Design Manager in Bang & Olufsen Medicom, received the Red Dot trophy and he pointed out that: “Good design is a key factor for integrating good medical treatment into people’s lives. If you can relate to the idea, the concept and the physical product, your chance of doing things right increases. Therefore, design has the potential of adding more value than technical developments.”
Helping Hand Data Capture has been awarded as the Best of the Best in 2008. It means that the product has been carefully selected and valued to be the best of all product designs in the medical product design category. With 3,203 submissions, the competition in the awards program has increased with 26% since last year, which shows the growing importance of good design on the global market.
