Copenhagen March 6 2007. Bang & Olufsen Medicom, an innovative provider of drug delivery solutions for the pharmaceutical industry has announced today the members of its new board of Directors. The new structure is effective from the first of March 2007. The board members each bring a unique background to the future development of B&O Medicom and consists of two very prominent Danish business executives and the current Executive Vice President of Bang & Olufsen.
The Chairman of the new Board, Peer Nørkjær, has a Masters in Pharmaceutical Science and a Bachelor of Commerce in sales and marketing. Mr Nørkjær has more than 25 years of experience primarily gained within sales and marketing in various global Pharmaceutical companies. He has held several managerial positions in sales and marketing with Zeneca and Novartis and has for the last 17 years been the CEO of Jansen-Cilag in Denmark, Switzerland and Israel. Recently the Danish Ministry of Health awarded Mr Nørkjær the license to run Tårnby Pharmacy and in this role Mr Nørkjær is daily interacting with patients who are likely to benefit from B&O Medicom’s drug delivery devices. Commenting on his new position, Mr Nørkjær said; “I am excited by B&O Medicom’s expertise and current product range of user-friendly patient compliance devices. I look forward to working with the team on bringing new solutions to the market that can help solve patient compliance issues.”
Meanwhile, another new member of the board also brings a wealth of Pharmaceutical industry insight to B&O Medicom - Alejandra Mørk, the current Senior Vice President of International Product Development at Nycomed. Ms. Mørk has an eighteen year history in working with Nycomed including several years spent in Regulatory Affairs, the Medical Department and for the past four years she has been heading up the Product Development department (Research & Development). Alejandra has said “I am delighted to accept this position with B&O Medicom, a company who offers an exciting range of innovative drug delivery devices. In addition, I am very impressed by the company’s extensive range of patents and their ability to leverage these in new technologies.”
In addition, Peter Thostrup, the current Executive Vice President of Bang & Olufsen will continue to represent Bang & Olufsen’s commitment to the development of Medicom. Mr Thostrup has been a member of the board of B&O Medicom management for several years and will be an instrumental figure in ensuring its continued success.
B&O Medicom’s commitment to designing innovative patient compliance solutions has been repeatedly recognised on the international stage in terms of several design awards. In particular, B&O Medicom has received design awards for the Helping Hand, tablet reminder and compliance device, which helps patients remember to take their medication. In addition, Medicom has created several inhalation platforms and services, injection systems and sensor based technology solutions.
