EASD – Bang & Olufsen Medicom to unveil new inhaler


 

The European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) conference 2006 will be held in Copenhagen from the 14-16 September. Bang & Olufsen Medicom will unveil a new breath-actuated inhaler with a novel design and integrated dose counter. The new inhaler will be available for viewing at the Bang & Olufsen Medicom booth, located near the auditorium entrance at Hall B3 - 002B.

 

The inhaler can be used for a variety of medications and will have a unique design that is user-friendly and easy to use.

 

In addition visitors to the booth will also be allowed to view the new injection pen cap prototype concept which allows patients to track and trace their injection doses. Come visit us and you could win a set of Bang & Olufsen earphones. For more information you can contact: Medicom

 

Successful Year for Inhalers and Stethoscopes


 

It has been a successful end to our financial year. Recently, Bang & Olufsen’s annual report has been launched, and B&O Medicom has posted turnover is in line with expectations – up 14 million DKK on the past year. Bang & Olufsen Medicom’s turnover for 2005/2006 was 198 million DKK versus 184 million DDK the previous year. The result this year before tax was 13 million DKK.

New Patient Monitoring Device to be developed


We have entered into an agreement with AstraZeneca AB on the development of a new patient monitor that measures patient compliance. The companies have signed the agreement to develop an electronic device for that will be used in clinical studies. The device will be designed to register if patients take their medication correctly – and thereby measure patient compliance. Details of the agreement are confidential.

Data capture device available shortly


Bang & Olufsen Medicom will shortly launch a new data capture version of the Helping Hand, tablet reminder device. The new device will be able to record the user's tablet taking routine. Afterwards the device can be connected to a computer via a USB cable and the user's behaviour can be read via a special software.

 

The device will be useful in clinical trial recordings of patient behaviour and in monitoring chronically ill patients who need to take their medication on a regular basis.

The device is expected to be on the market by end of October.

New dose sizes available on the AAI


The collaboration between Bespak and B&O Medicom continues to go from strength to strength regarding the AAI (Assist Actuated Inhaler) which we will jointly co-produce and co-promote.

 

The new collaboration allows the parties to jointly deliver the device in a customised version to clients with high quality valve mechanisms and rapid large scale production.

The latest venture has also produced three new versions of the AAI, the device can be developed with a maximum programme of up to more than 209 doses (including test shots). Although it is expected that 120 dose counter will be the main version there is also the possiblity of a 60 dose inhaler version.

Medicom to Present at Patient Compliance Conference

E3000 Launched in Japan


The award-winning 3MTM LittmannR E3000 electronic stethoscope was launched in Japan last month. The stethoscope features a unique ANR technology (Ambient Noise Reduction) which filters out surrounding sound by 75% making it easier for physicians to diagnose difficult to hear heart and lung sounds. The amplification of specific sounds is proven in tests carried out by 3M to be 18 times greater than acoustic stethoscopes.
