Bang & Olufsen Medicom to Focus on Drug Delivery Development Projects

Financial Results Show Successful Year for Inhalers and Stethoscopes

              Copenhagen 22 August, 2006. Bang & Olufsen Medicom, an innovative drug delivery device solutions provider for the pharmaceutical industry, has announced today a successful end to their financial year. This week, Bang & Olufsen’s annual report has been launched, and their affiliate, Medicom has posted turnover is in line with expectations – up 14 million DKK on the past year. Bang & Olufsen Medicom’s turnover for 2005/2006 was 198 million DKK versus 184 million DDK the previous year. The result this year before tax was 13 million DKK.

                 CEO of Bang & Olufsen Medicom, Henrik Kagenow has said “We plan to continue to focus on developing drug delivery devices that leverage our innovation techniques and our substantial patent portfolio. In particular a major focus for us going forward will be the inhalation area where we see a great potential for the future.” Mr. Kagenow also added that there is a sharpened focus from the pharmaceutical industry on finding solutions that help improve patient compliance - particularly for patients with chronic and long-term medication needs.

                 Bang & Olufsen Medicom is committed to developing novel drug delivery solutions for pharmaceutical companies that uniquely address the patient compliance issue. The devices are designed with special electronics that help remind the user when to take their medication and in turn, they can track the pattern of medication taken over a given period of time. Currently thousands of patients are using this feedback function with the Helping Hand, tablet reminder device and a new inhaler is being tested by clients currently also contains reminder and tracking software.
